A popular four-or-five-day route starts in Omalo, runs up the Pirikiti Alazani valley to Dartlo, Chesho and Parsma, then crosses the steep 2900m Nakaicho Pass over to Verkhovani, and returns to Omalo down the Gomtsari Alazani valley.

The basic route does, however, involve quite a lot of road walking (not that traffic is heavy). Non-road alternatives are to approach Dartlo from Diklo via Chigho, and to take the panoramic Gonta ridge route between the Nakaicho Pass and Gele (about 6km northwest of Omalo), instead of either of the two valley roads.
