Southern Georgia in detail

Flights & getting there

The region is well connected to Tbilisi by marshrutka and has seen its roads improve enormously in the past decade. There is also a good provision of marshrutky connecting the various towns to each other, making it a breeze to get around. Some of the more remote churches and villages can only be reached by taxi or with your own wheels, but these are easy and inexpensive to organise. There are also border crossings from here with Turkey – the Vale–Posof border crossing and the little-used Aktas–Kartsakhi border crossing – and Armenia.
