Itinerary: Martvili Canyons – A narrow gorge was emerged in the period of Mesozoic era. On this place, a limestone cave was collapsed and thus created canyon, several bridges and waterfalls. Touristic route starts from visitor centers and goes to the Dadiani historical trail of 700 m long through 2 bridges & 3 platforms. Visitors can undertake 300 meter boat tour on the river into the canyon.  The Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Martvili-The church was built in 7th century and was a place for the Chkondidi Episcopacy in medieval era. Okatse Canyon –The walkable route of the canyon is 1,5 km, its height ranges from 20 till 100 meters, while the width reaches up to 20m. Two-day Kutaisi-Martvili Tour

Day 1: Tbilisi – Kutaisi – Bagrati – Gelati – Motsameta – Kutaisi  At 09:00 am our driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Tbilisi. Drive to Kutaisi, the central city of Western Georgia, once called Aia (230 km). The road to Kutaisi will take you over the Rikoti Pass and through the longest tunnel in Georgia (1,722 m), considered as a border between the western and eastern parts of Georgia. On the way visit Ubisa Monastery, famous for its well-preserved and colorful frescoes dating from the 9th century. Have another stop in a village, Shrosha, where you will have a chance to see the diversity of Georgian pottery: "doqi" - jug, "piala" - bowl, " ketsi" - plate and many more, which are made from clay that is extracted from the soil of the area. Arrive to Kutaisi, the second biggest city in Georgia, which according to the legend was the ultimate destination of the Jason and Argonauts searching for the Golden Fleece. In Kutaisi, visit the Bagrati Cathedral (11th century) - one of the best samples of medieval architecture, towering over Kutaisi and visible from almost any point of the city. Next stop is the Gelati Academy (12th century) built by King David the Builder. Gelati was the center of spiritual and scientific life in the Middle Ages, the tomb of Georgian kings, and a popular place for pilgrims. It is under UNESCO protection as an object of cultural and historical legacy. Continue to Motsameta monastery to enjoy fantastic views over the gorge. Drive back to Kutaisi for overnight at the hotel. Day 2: Kutaisi – Martvili canyon – Nokalakevi – Prometheus cave – Tbilisi  In the morning, drive to Nokalakevi, located by the Tekhuri River, a historical fortress famous for early Byzantine historians as Archeopolis. This fortress played a part in the major wars fought between the Byzantines and Sasanians in the south Caucasus in the 6th century AD. Continue on the tour to Martvili Canyon. On the way to Martvili you will pass local villages with charming yards typical only to this area. Take a small boat trip inside the canyon, and see one of the nature's most wonderful creations – a steep waterfall. After that, enter the gorge's other side and stroll over the canyon's waters, watching the water change its colors with every turn and stone. This is the best place for photos. An excellent end of this day is the famous Prometheus cave, with numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Return to Tbilisi, drop-off at your hotel.

Martvili Canyon, Prometheus Cave Natural Monument,Gelati Monastery

Martvili’s canyon, this historical, surprisingly beautiful place of Georgia. The canyon is on Abash’s river near the city of Martvili in the region of Samegrelo. Martvili canyons used to be a bath place for Royal Family Dadiani. This is a really tremendous place which everyone surely has to visit. The canyon is famous for the beauty and the facts of ancient years. In the territory of a canyon the hardened bones of animals who lived millions years ago, and also traces of paws of dinosaurs were found. It is possible to walk on a canyon by the boat and if to go on the top party, it is possible to reach 7 meter huge falls.  Prometheus Cave is an enclosed space, generated in the Lower Cretaceous limestone. It is also known as cave Kumistavicave Gliana. Entrance height is 3.5 - 4 meters, width - 7 m. In 60 meters from the entrance is the Siphon Lake from which the river Kumiflows. In the cave there are stalactites and calcite speleothems, a thick layer of guanine. The climate here is dynamic, movement of air is sharp. At the end of the tunnel is a siphon of two-meter depth, with warm water (15C). Drinking springs within the cave flow into the river Kumi. Well furnished cave has become an attractive tourist site. Walking inside the cave is pleasant. Tourist route is a length of approximately 1 kilometer. On July 15, 1984 speleological expedition of the Institute of Geography opened 16 new halls, which vary both in size and forms of fossilized sag. In the new room you can see a lot of stalagmites and stalactites, cave pearls and pisolite, underground rivers and lakes.  The climate is good for asthma patients.GelatiMonastery The cathedral is situated 11 km westwards from Kutaisi. The GelatiMonastery, with its main buildings erected between the 12th and 17th centuries, was an important religious, cultural and educational center of Georgia. The monastery complex is included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list and its architecture is well known for wonderful mosaics and frescos. 3 days tour to Canyons and Caves of West Georgia

Itinerary Day 1: Tbilisi – Uplistsikhe – Kutaisi – Bagrati & Gelati – Kutaisi Meet your guide and driver at your pickup location in Tbilisi and drive towards West Georgia. You’ll start your tour with visit to Uplistsikhe cave town dating back to 1st millennium BC. The town is identified as one of the oldest settlements in Georgia and is remarkable for the combination of Anatolian and Iranian cultures.  Continue and drive through Rikoti pass. After arrival in Kutaisi drive to Gelati Monastery and Academy. The complex was found by the Greatest King of Georgia David the Builder in the beginning of the 12th century and earned high religious and cultural importance for ages. The main church was painted with frescoes between 12th – 17th centuries. Gelati Monastery and Academy is included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Drive back to Kutaisi and visit Bagrati Cathedral – another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral was found in 11th c. and named after King Bagrat III – the first King of unified Georgian Kingdom.  In the evening take a walk in Kutaisi city and have dinner at the restaurant. Overnight in Kutaisi hotel Day 2: Kutaisi – Martvili Canyon – Okatse Canyon – Kutaisi After breakfast at the hotel, meet the guide and driver and continue your journey to Martvili canyons located in Samegrelo region with the total length of 2400 meters and depth of 20-40 meters. Over millions of years, the Abasha river has created magnificent gorge in limestone rocks, reaching a depth of 40 meters, with canyons, caves and waterfalls. Only small part of the canyon is open to visitors. There are stretches of quiet water for peddling and swimming, but also steep rocks to climb, spectacular waterfalls to enjoy and caves to explore.  Continue to the Okatse Canyon-famous for its magnificent wild nature, astonishing waterfalls and breathtaking views. Located in the Western Georgia, near the village of Gordi, the canyon runs roughly for 14 kilometers, width ranges from 3-6 to 15-20 meters, while its depth is between 20-100 meters. Okatse pedestrian trail passes through Dadiani forest, an exciting 780m-long walkway hanged on a cliff and leads you to the viewing platform that hangs right out over the middle. Day 3: Kutaisi – Sataplia caves – Prometheus caves – Kutaisi After breakfast at the hotel drive to Prometheus grotto - one of the largest caves in Georgia open to travelers. It includes various types of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes. Head to Sataplia karst caves. Take a walking tour in Sataplia nature reserve. The place is famous for containing dinosaur footprints which are conserved on the territory of the museum.  Afterwards drive back to Tbilisi to your place of stay.

Day 1Pick up from your place of stay in Tbilisi.  Martvili (Gachedili Canyon) - The Martvili Canyons is a major attraction in the Samegrelo Region. There are two beautiful natural canyons. Tourists come here to do some rafting, to swim, and to get some rest from the heat: it is always cool in the canyons, and the water is cold. It is possible to rent a rubber boat in the Upper Canyon. And the Lower Canyon is just a place to swim and relax. There are some cafes in the area. The most convenient way to get to the canyons is by car. The canyons are situated near the Martvili-Salkhino highway. It is possible to go on a one-day-trip to the Martvili canyons from Kutaisi.Okatse Canyon - natural monument with recently built high quality tourist infrastructure – stairs, footpaths offering magnificent views to the canyon and its surroundings make a nice day out in the nature especially in spring when water levels are high and nature is in blossom with flowers all around and smell of yellow azalea and with still snowed Askhi Pleatau ; Also in summer when you can swim, relax or just find a really cool place for picnic and to taste some homemade Georgian wine with locals.The waterfall (88 meters high) is located in the Satsiskvilos Valley, where it flows from a massive limestone mountain. Kinchkha is an astonishing place with two waterfalls and canyon. It locates on altitude of 1000 miters and nature out there is amazing and refreshing. Sataplia the Cave is named after Sataplia Mountain, which gained its name from the local tradition of collecting honey from the bees that inhabit the mountain’s southern slope.
