Getting There & Away

Getting Around

A sealed, entirely flat road runs the 10km from Avatoru village at the western end of the string of islets to the Tiputa Pass, at the eastern extremity. There’s no public transport on Rangiroa, but there’s a rather casual approach to hitchhiking (which is never entirely safe, although you’d be unlikely to run into problems on Rangiroa): if you’re walking along in the hot sun, someone will often stop and offer you a ride.
