To & From the Airport & Quay
All ferries dock at the quay in Vaiare. In principle, buses (300 CFP) meet all Aremiti 5 catamaran arrivals and departures but not the Aremiti ferry. From the quay, one bus heads south and the other north, completing the island circuit and dropping you off wherever you need to be. Mo’orea’s taxis are notoriously expensive: from the airport to the Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa will cost about 4500 CFP.
The airport is in the island’s northeastern corner. Most hotels offer airport transfers.
Bicycle & Scooter
Bikes can be hired. Some hotels and pensions supply them free to guests.
In theory, there’s a bus service but it’s notoriously unreliable.
On Mo’orea having your own wheels is very useful but expensive. Car-hire operators can be found at the Vaiare ferry quay and at some of the major hotels. Generally, you’ll pay from around 9500 CFP per day including liability insurance and unlimited kilometres. Try booking online for cheaper rates.
It's a good idea to reserve in advance on weekends.
There are petrol stations located near the Vaiare ferry quay, close to the airport, beside Cook’s Bay and at Le Petit Village on Hauru Point.
