Mo'orea's most popular hike, this climb is hard work, but the pay-off is superb views from the ridge between Mt Mouaroa (880m) and Mt Tohiea (1207m). You can start from the agricultural college or the belvédère. Count on three hours return. The track is relatively well marked so you don't really need a guide.
Don't look for three coconut trees at the pass – two were blown down in an early 1980s cyclone.
