Farepiti Point to Vaitape

Interisland ships dock at the rather drab Farepiti quay, which was built during WWII and is at the southwestern end of Faanui Bay. Immediately to the south of the quay lies a coastal marae; it’s on private property but you can see it from the quay.

Along the road from Farepiti Point to Pahua Point, one of the WWII defence guns can be seen silhouetted against the skyline. The road rounds the point, and two coastal defence guns, placed here to guard the shipping route into the lagoon, overlook the point. The route is not well marked, so ask around if you get lost, or join a 4WD tour.
