Welcome to Ahe
This 20km-long by 10km-wide ring of coral is a charmer. The many hues of its pure aqua-blue water, the foaming breakers around the reef and the thin strips of coral-sand beach of its many deserted motu make for an enchanting scene. It is less developed than many surrounding atolls because of its geography. The only pass is at the northwest of the atoll; the village of Tenukupara is in the far southwest and the airport is at the northern extremity. The atoll’s beauty draws in a large number of yachties between May and August.
The aim of the game on Ahe is to relax – but if you’re keen to get the blood flowing, there are excellent options available, including snorkelling, fishing and diving.
