The ski terrain of Val d'Isere and Tignes rolls together to form Espace Killy, a giant for its scale – altitudes between 1550m and 3456m, 300km of pistes – and the length of its season (from late November until very early May). There's a great mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced skiing and miles of glorious, easily accessible off-piste.

Piste gradings tend to assume good levels of skiing – look out for blue runs that feel red, and red runs that seem to be expert-level.

The height of Espace Killy makes summer skiing possible, on the Grande Motte and Pissaillas glaciers between early June and mid-July (day pass €28).
