All the fun of the Oktoberfest with cosy Austrian beds! Our chalet - the historic Auerhof - is formerly an Tryolean farmhouse, now fully renovated into the perfect base for groups. Set in magnificent countryside on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Kossen, it is a great and affordable alternative to camping in Munich. All rooms have their own private facilities. It has its own bar, disco and is situated besides one of Austria's major activity centres in Kossen. Rooms in this chalet are shared dorm style rooms of four, five or six beds. Each room has its own private bathroom.
Day 1 - Thursday - Depart LondonWe depart from Victoria Embankment, by the Thames near Embankment tube station at 1430 (2:30pm). Then drive to Dover for a mid afternoon sailing to Calais. Once in France we take a leisurely drive across Belgium entering Germany in the wee hours. All our coaches are executive, complete with video and toilet.Day 2 - Friday - Arrival in the Austrian AlpsNow the fun really starts ! We are expected to arrive at the beautiful Austrian ski resort of Kossen (only an hour south of Munich) late morning - depending upon traffic - where you'll check into your budget chalet-style accommodation, the Auerhof. You then have the afternoon to explore the village or warm up in the bar. There is a lot of activities to do at Kossen. Whitewater rafting, bike riding, paragliding, just to name a few.Day 3 - Saturday - Oktoberfest Opening DayAfter breakfast we depart Kossen and drive straight to Munich for Oktoberfest and the opening parade. At noon the Munich mayor taps the first keg and we're away!! You have the rest of the day free to join in the huge opening day's festivities. After the beerhalls close we return to our warm beds in Kossen.Day 4 - Sunday - Dachau, Andechs and BeerhallsAfter a later breakfast we'll cruise into Munich and back to the Oktoberfest. You can either head straight into the beerhalls or join us for a very sobering experience: a self guided tour of the infamous Dachau concentration camp. In the afternoon we change the mood completely by taking you to the beautiful Andechs beer monastery. Then it's back to the beerhalls. After another BIG evening we'll again depart Munich after the beerhalls close.Day 5 - Monday - Tirolian tourAfter a slow breakfast most people take time to recover from a couple of days at the fest and prepare for more partying ahead! Today join us on our Tyrolian day tour to the beautiful ski village of St Johann where we stop for lunch. Here you have the chance to go up the gondola for a birds eye view of the amazing Wilder Kaiser. For the real adventurous, there is the option to go paragliding or do St Johann's famous ropes and climbing course at the middle station.Day 6 - Tuesday - Munich .. One More Go & Depart for LondonAfter breakfast we head back into Munich to give you a final opportunity to explore the city. You will also have plenty of time to party one more time in the beerhalls. After the afternoon in Munich we'll depart from the Oktoberfest grounds in the evening for a night drive back to London.Day 7 - Wednesday - Arrive to LondonWe catch a morning ferry back to the White Cliffs of Dover then on to London arriving back early afternoon.
