Eating

Jura cuisine makes use of the bounty of fertile plains below the mountains: Comté cheese, mushrooms and wine.

Besançon has by far the best set of bistros, fine-dining restaurants and everything in between, and gourmet restaurants in Arbois and Dole are also worth seeking out. In small towns, particularly in Parc du Haut-Jura, options are thinly spread and have spotty opening hours – ask locally or call ahead in low season.
