A sleepy fishing port with a devoted (mainly local) clientele of regular holidaymakers, Sausset is a quiet and unspectacular place that attempts none of the glitz of so many other places on the Provençal coastline. Fishing boats pull into the rock-walled harbour each day to offload their catch at the early-morning fish market (look for the sign ‘Ventes de poissons frais’), and a block in from the water a trio of mouth-watering poissonneries (fishmongers) sell a heady choice of fish.
