Rennes in detail

Flights & getting there

Rennes' airport is 8km southwest of the city centre. It offers direct flights to many domestic and European destinations. Bus 57 connects place de la République and the airport, every 20 minutes daily. A taxi costs about €20.

The bus station is adjacent to the train station. Illenoo offers many daily services in eastern Brittany, including both Dinan and Dinard (€6.20, 1½ hours, 14 daily Monday to Friday, six Saturday, five Sunday) and Paimpont (€5, one hour, nine daily Monday to Friday, five Saturday).

Rennes is a major transport hub for northeast France. The new TGV track to Le Mans has cut travel times to the east by about 40 minutes.

As part of this project, the train station in Rennes is being completely rebuilt. Until it is complete (possibly in 2019), the area around the station is chaotic and ever-changing, so plan for extra time. It's easiest to reach by metro, since the streets are often blocked by construction.
