Le Procope

French in St-Germain & Les Invalides

The city's oldest cafe welcomed its first patrons in 1686, and was frequented by Voltaire, Molière and Balzac et al. Its chandeliered interior also has an entrance onto the 1735-built glass-roofed passageway Cour du Commerce St-André. House specialties include coq au vin, calf kidneys with violet mustard, and homemade ice cream.

Chicken or steak with mash and red-wine jus are available in small portions as part of the children's menu.
