La Gauloise

French in Montparnasse & Southern Paris

With a name like La Gauloise, you wouldn't expect this venerable, terrace-fronted restaurant to serve anything other than traditional fare, which it does, very well. From onion soup to pan-sautéed calf's liver, preserved foie gras with pear and mustard marmalade, and profiteroles for dessert, it refines but doesn't reinvent the French classics. Closes for two weeks in August.
