Ivy-clad Chez Marianne heaves at lunchtime with elbow-to-elbow diners digging into copious portions of falafel, hummus, aubergine purée and 25-odd other zakouski (hors d'oeuvre) dishes. Fare is Sephardic rather than Ashkenazi (the norm at most Pletzl eateries), not Beth Din kosher. A hole-in-the-wall window sells falafel in pita (€7.50, with beef €9.50) to take away.
