Eating

The best places to hunt out local specialities are the casual restaurants and pizzerias in St-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, St-Pierre-d'Entremont and St-Hilaire du Touvet. (Be warned, many are seasonal.) The region is well known for its goat's cheeses, Savoyard dishes like diots (sausages) are common, and the liqueur Chartreuse makes an appearance in everything from cocktails to crèmes brûlées.

Some dairies are open for visits and farm-gate sales; see http://chartreuse-tourisme.com/fr/deguster for specifics.
