Built in 1898 by the then-director of the railways (the train station is very close by), this wonderful grey-stone manor house is set in park-like gardens high above the town and is today a well-run chambre d'hôte. Despite the size of the building, there are actually only four guest rooms, all named after heroines from classic novels.
Country-chic decor, large bathrooms and a dash of old-fashioned charm make this a memorable choice. Children will enjoy sharing the gardens with the odd goat and rabbit. Call ahead if arriving outside the reception hours of 6pm to 8pm. There's a two-night minimum stay in July and August.
Located in Morlaix town, 60 km from Brest, Manoir Ker – Huella dates from the 19th century and is set in a 15,000 m² park. Free WiFi access is available. The en suite rooms with décor inspired by famous novel heroines feature garden views. Tea and coffee making facilities are offered. A continental breakfast is included in the price. Guests can visit the Jacobins Museum, which is just a 10-minute walk from the property or Carantec beach, located 14 km away. Morlaix train station is conveniently situated next to the manor and the N12 road is just 2 km away. Free parking is also available on site.
