Marseille in Four Days
On the Vieux-Port's northern side, you'll be kept busy by MuCEM, Fort St-Jean, the Villa Méditerranée, Notre Dame de Major, La Vieille Charité and the bars and boutiques of Le Panier. A great dinner at Le Café des Épices awaits.
Next morning, climb to the iconic Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde, snap superb views from the Jardin du Pharo, then sample real bouillabaisse at Michel. Don't miss the Abbaye St-Victor, or the Musée Cantini as you head back to rest.
Day three is for exploring the further-flung delights of La Cité Radieuse, Parc Borély and the Vallon des Auffes, ideal for a seafood lunch. Bus 83 will carry you back to Opéra Municipal de Marseille, where nearby bars, boutiques and restaurants should account for the rest of your day.
Day four is where things get contemporary: make the trip out to La Friche La Belle de Mai, eating at its superb restaurant Les Grandes Tables, then head to bohemian cours Julien for drinks at Waaw and dinner at intimate L’Arôme.
