The splendid shores of Lac d'Annecy have attracted a healthy number of restaurants, including a couple of outstanding high-end establishments.

Feature: Lakeside Legends

Lac d'Annecy is the stunning setting for two of the most-celebrated restaurants in the French Alps. Yoann Conte nods to regional cuisine with smoked féra (white fish from Lake Léman) and cornflour farfalle (butterfly pasta) in a picture-perfect setting. Chic rooms, all with balconies overlooking the lake, are available (doubles €250 to €415), should you need to sleep off your meal. Meanwhile at Auberge du Père Bise, double Michelin-star-awarded chef Jean Sulpice prepares local ingredients with visual precision and a light touch: chestnut and truffle velouté, calf heart with Savoie beer, and Chartreuse soufflé. Rooms are available here, too (doubles from €359). Both venues require booking well in advance, whether for dining or a night's stay.
