In this small-group full day tour, you will visit traditional Christmas markets in Colmar and in other Alsace villages. Strasbourg hosted in 1570 the very first edition of one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe and has continued, since then, the tradition of Alsatian Christmas. However, Colmar and other Alsatian villages have also developed their own warm and generous Christmas Markets tradition, with their little wooden huts, Christmas lights and festivities. Experience the true Christmas spirit and open all your senses to delicious fragrances, delightful craft goods and lights along your way. Those markets will amaze you with their surprising and mouthwatering discoveries.
Depart in the morning at 9:30am from Strasbourg and head first towards Colmar. Christmas in Colmar’s historical town center will charm you with its amazing Christmas illuminations that match perfectly with the wonderful lighting designed to enhance the town’s heritage. Explore with your guide the pedestrian city center with its major architectural treasures that stretch from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. This old neighborhood is magically decorated and seems like a veritable open-air theater where the warm Christmas mood envelops the heart of the town. Here, enjoy some free time in the city to discover one or several Christmas Markets, there are 5 different markets to explore.Then, move towards the famous Alsace Wine Route to pass through some of the most beautiful villages of Alsace. The afternoon program will depend on the date of your tour: Eguisheim or Bergheim (Christmas Cribs tour) villages host a market every single day. On the 25th, 26th and 27th of November you will certainly stop in Kaysersberg where one of the most authentic Christmas markets is held. On the 3rd/4th and 10th/11th of December, your stop will certainly include the Christmas Markets of Riquewihr or Ribeauvillé as this is when the Medieval markets are being held.When your tour finishes, you will return to Strasbourg.
