Ferries for Île d'Ouessant depart from Brest and the tiny town of Le Conquet (Brittany's most westerly point). In high summer, reserve ferry tickets at least two days in advance and check in 45 minutes before departure to avoid enormous lines.
Penn Ar Bed sails from the Port de Commerce in Brest (2½ hours), from Le Conquet (1½ hours) and from Camaret-sur-Mer (one hour). Boats run between the first two and the island two to five times daily from May to September and once daily between October and April. Boats run from Camaret two to six times per week in July and August, and once weekly in May, June and early September. A bike costs €15.50.
Finist'mer runs high-speed boats from Le Conquet (40 minutes), Lanildut (35 minutes) and Camaret (1½ hours) one to three times per day, with more sailings during the peak season of July and August.
Penn Ar Bed buses link Brest with Le Conquet (€2, 45 minutes, hourly).
