Grenoble Isère Airport, the region's international air hub, handles flights to and from multiple UK destinations, plus Poland, Ireland, Sweden and the Netherlands. Lyon St-Exupéry, in the neighbouring Rhône département, has more connections.
Bear in mind that high mountain passes, such as those heading to/from Italy, may close in winter.
Car & Motorcycle
Dauphiné sits below Savoie, above Provence and to the west of Italy, all of which can be reached comfortably in much less than a day's drive (mountains and weather permitting).
Grenoble is the key train hub in Dauphiné, with principal TER routes to Lyon and Chambéry and a secondary route to Marseille.
