Gastronomy is one of Briançon's strong suits. There's a wealth of modern French fine dining in the Cité Vauban (look along the Grande Rue and adjacent streets) and plenty of brasseries downhill in the modern town. The influence of neighbouring Italy is also strong in Briançon, with plenty of authentic pizzas, pastas and Italian-style coffee. Look out for medieval-themed menus featuring spit-roasted game.
