Eating

Besançon has a big range of restaurants serving Franche-Comté cuisine, countless bakeries and salons de thé (tea rooms), and decent vegetarian options too. Rue Bersot is a good hunting ground for regional cuisine. Rue Claude Pouillet, skirting the Doubs River, has several small restaurants. On the river's north bank find Tunisian sweets, Turkish cafes, pizza and fast food (rue Battant and quai Veil Picard).
