We will begin this tour with a visit to one of my favorite buildings in Bilbao, the Centro Azkuna. I will explain in greater detail the history of this building and why it is so important to the culture of the city. Next, we will share an aperitif and participate in a cooking class. A professional chef will teach you some of the best Basque recipes and accompany you as you prepare an authentic Basque meal, with appetizer, entrée and dessert. At the end of class, we will sit and enjoy our meal, tasting the various dishes prepared during the class. We will also have plenty of time during this tour to chat, so I can share with you my local perspective on Bilbao and perhaps even give you some suggestions for what to do with your remaining time in the city.

MORE ABOUT THE TOUR
One of the sites that tourists often overlook when visiting Bilbao is the Centro Azkuna, a historical building which started as a wine warehouse in 1909 but has also served multiple functions since then. I’ll take you through this fascinating structure and explain why it has been declared “Public Property of Cultural Interest” since 1999. We will also cook withlocal professional chefs and they'll show you how to prepare a delicious Basque meal with ingredients purchased fresh at a local market.
