Summer walking and winter skiing are the twin highlights here. Myriad other activities range from boating to horse riding and dog-sledding.

From the Luontokeskus Ukko nature centre, it’s a brief walk to Ukko-Koli, Koli Hill's highest point; 200m further is Akka-Koli. On Akka-Koli's western slope is a ‘Temple of Silence’, an open space for contemplation, with a stone altar and wooden cross mounted in the rock. For a slightly longer walk, it’s 2.6km from Ukko to Koli village or a steep 1.9km walk to Satama.
