I'm travelling to Fiji for two weeks in June, with a companion. We are attending a wedding in/around Nadi, so the trip is revolving around that area. We have 3 free days starting off (staying in/around Nadi, but can use the time however), then several days of wedding activities, then about 5 days to ourselves to go and do/stay anywhere.
From the research I've done, the consensus seems to be "get off of the main island." For the first 3 free days, I'm thinking of taking day cruises out…
After long years, I am heading back to visit Fiji and Samoa. Could anybody please enlighten me on some of the issues that worry me and that I have not got to deal with before?
a) I guess I would love to diverse my financial resources...as I do not have access to AUD or even FJD, is it okay to bring USD dollars ? If so, is it worth exchanging them at the airport or shall I wait to exchange them somewhere in Nadi?
b) I intend to purchase a sim card with internet data. Any tips on the…
Question for a period of about 15 years I went to Fiji about 7 times usually staying a month at a time and travelling to the outer islands and staying in small family owned resorts and having the time of my life. After about 30 years thinking of going back but when I look at the forums the resorts all look big and touristy and very expensive(we can afford it, but why).do those small resorts that might only have 3 or 4 bures still exist the ones we're looking for are on the smaller more difficult…
My brother and his family are heading to Denarau in a little over a week - does anyone know how badly hit Denarau itself was by the flooding caused by Cyclone Josie at the weekend and if it has badly affected travel safety around the area? From reports there was severe flooding near Nadi airport - but I can't find anything to suggest any ongoing disruptions? Thoughts also with the families of the victims who died in the flooding.
Thanks for any tips,
I'll soon visit Fiji to do a one-week kayak trip that involves long crossings in high seas.
I can do it in early May, end of May or end of June.
I know it's subjective, but can anyone comment which of those periods have calmer seas/surfs?
Many thanks & safe paddles.
Bula Vinaka, experts on Fiji,
I am thinking if anyone could help me here on this forum with the following.
My friends and I will be touring Viti Levu in May, running on a tight schedule. After we arrive from Caqalai Island in the morning (it's a Sunday), we need to head up along the northern shore road or through the inland and get to Rakiraki town by the end of the day. We will have hired vans or minibus with a driver.
We were seriously thinking about visiting Savulelele Waterfall and…
My husband and I will be staying for seven nights at The Remote Resort on Vanua Levu this May. We would like to pick up some small items to bring home for our kids, the inlaws, and our house sitters. Any markets or shops we should know about? We would prefer things that aren’t typical tourist tchotchkes. Most of our time will be at the resort but we will have a long layover in Nadi and will be taking a day trip to Taveuni at some point during our stay.
My wife and I are thinking of heading to Fiji for 10 days or so this July to escape the NZ winter. The problem we’re having is deciding where to go. We’re currently swaying towards the Mananucas as it appears to tick most of the boxes, but we’re open to other ideas. The Yasawas sound good but the one ferry a day, and 2/3 hour journey is putting us off.
Suppose I’d best tell you what we actually want from the trip. We’re planning more of a holiday rather than a backpacking trip…
It's been 10 years since we last visited Fiji and it's high time to return. We always enjoyed Skylodge when we arrived in Nadi before heading out to the Yasawas. We enjoyed Octopus during our first visit and moved up to Botaira the next but its gotten too speedy ($325/night) We also liked Oarsman's Bay though not quite as much and they haven't posted current prices and I'm wondering if they're still in business. The resort on Nananui-I-Ra was nice though it's hard to beat the beaches of…
