If you've had your fill of water-based activities, try a deep-end dive into village life. These tours explore Bagata, a small settlement 20km from Savusavu. Guests are welcomed into village homes and the church, and are treated to a meke (traditional dance) and afternoon tea. Dress modestly and bring a sevusevu (customary gift for the chief) of dried kava: pick this up at the Savusavu markets.
Tours are $200 per group of six. Money from the tours funds village projects and provides scholarships for local kids.
You'll have to make your own way to Bagata: taxis ($40) or buses ($3) run regularly. The tours run from 2pm to 4pm daily.
