This faux village is unashamedly ‘Fiji in a theme park’, and within its Disneylike confines are a temple, chiefly bure, cooking area with utensils and weaving hut. Fijian actors dressed in traditional costumes carry out mock battles, preach pagan religion and demonstrate traditional arts. Tours include a canoe tour (for the kids), Island Temple Tour and Arts Village Show, and fire-walking (11am). It’s fun for families, but not much to do with authentic village life.

Attached to the Arts Village, the Marketplace is a congregation of eateries, supermarkets and souvenir shops, and is a pleasant spot in which to kill an hour or so.
