Hi all,

I am a 42 year old Dutch male with quite some backpacking experience (mostly in Asia and middle east). I am considering to go to Ethiopia for 3 weeks, last two weeks of September and first week of October. Seeing the whole country in three weeks seems a bit too much, so I was thinking of focussing on the north. I would like to have a combination of culture, history and nature. I do not like multiple day trekkings but I do enjoy seeing wildlife or nature reserves. I would like to see the…

Hello,
We are planning a 12 day ethiopia trip that unfortunately has to be from August 23- sept 6. I say unfortunately because I understand it's hot and then rainy up north. We want to do lalibela, harar, danakil and Axum if we have time. However, while we can take a couple of domestic flights, we do have to take buses sometime too (we aren't flying in on Ethiopian airlines nd it will be pricey).

Just curious if This is doable at this time of year, not sure if road conditions will be affected

I am an American woman wanting to go to Ethiopia November 2018 and I am looking for an experienced travel buddy(s) who is adventurous with a laid back personality. My schedule is open and I can travel for one month. I am an avid traveler who is easy going and open to new ideas. I have been to 24 countries. I enjoy the more unique and arduous places that are off-the-beaten-path where I can experience authentic cultures. I have been to Botswana (on safari), Namibia (visiting the nomadic Himba…

Hi there,
We are planning a 20+ day trip around the Omo and Suri area and we will be camping most of the time.
Are there any decent supermarkets in Jinka, Arba Minch, or any other part of Omo, to stock up on food supplies and good wine? What about olive oil?
I was there four years ago and at that time we drove from Addis and got all of our supplies there (including good South African wine). I don't remember seeing any good place to restock in the South. But we did manage to buy some bottles of wine…

Has anybody had experience of taking prescription only drugs into Ethiopia ? If so have you had any problems ?

I am talking about drugs that are reasonably standard medical tablets not the sort that double as hallucination / recreation drugs.

I'm considering traveling Ethiopia with my 5 year old daughter next winter for ~6 weeks. I'm still at an early stage in the planning process and hope you folks can help me out:
I've heard great things about the Simien Mountains. Also, I think my child would love it. So I'm thinking visiting for a week or so. Thing is, I wouldn't want to make this a pure hiking trip. So are there camps where we could just stay for the time and go on smaller walks/day trips from there? Is there a camp/place to stay…
