As long as you stay up-to-date with vaccinations and take basic preventative measures, you’re unlikely to succumb to any real health hazards while in eSwatini.

The main exception to this is malaria, which is a real risk in lower-lying areas of the country.

Make sure your health insurance policy is up-to-date before departing for eSwatini and, if you are planning to try any adventure sports, such as caving or rafting, that you are covered in case of an unfortunate event.

Availability & Cost of Healthcare

There are good healthcare centres available in Mbabane and Manzini, as well as in the Ezulwini Valley. Expect consultations with a GP to cost around E350 and up to E500 with a specialist.

Tap Water

It is best to drink bottled water or purify the tap water before drinking.
