Top Tips

  • While Estonia's cities have their charms, you'll experience a world of natural wonder beyond them. More than half of the country's terrain is woodlands and there are over 1500 islands – set aside ample time for outdoor exploration.
  • If using public transport to get between cities, consider intercity buses over trains. They're cheaper and most often faster.
  • Estonia is a wonderful country for road tripping – distances between cities and towns are relatively short, and the roads themselves are uncomplicated and easy to navigate.
  • Consider a trip to Tallinn in winter – you'll save heaps on accommodation thanks to off-season prices and won't encounter throngs of tourists. The city's wonderful Christmas market runs from the last week of November to the first week of January.
