Robin Hood

Fabled woodsman Robin Hood will be the focus of multimillion-pound renovations at Nottingham Castle, which will see the addition of a new Robin Hood Gallery when it reopens in spring 2020.

In the meantime, the famous statue of Robin Hood, in the moat outside Nottingham Castle, remains an iconic spot for a photograph, while Nottingham's Robin Hood Town Tours run by Ezekial Bone deconstruct the myths and focus on the historic building blocks while bringing the stories vividly to life.

Robin Hood's legacy, particularly in relation to the environment, is explored at the 2018-opened Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, from where you can visit the 800-year-old tree Major Oak, where Robin of Locksley allegedly sheltered.

On screen, look out for the 2018 blockbuster film Robin Hood, directed by Otto Bathurst and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, with an ensemble cast that includes Taron Egerton as Robin Hood and Jamie Foxx as Little John.

Nottingham's tourist office has updates of Robin Hood festivals, events and activities around town.
