Royal King's Arms Hotel

Hotel in Lancaster

This fine city-centre hotel is in a period house with modern rooms and an all-round businesslike interior. Look out for the beautiful stained-glass windows, one of the only leftovers from the mid-19th century when Charles Dickens frequented the place (and mentioned it in The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices). The ballroom-style restaurant has mains from £8 to £14.
