Welcome to Malton

The food scene is certainly extraordinary for a town of its size, with overflowing delis championing produce from the moors, wolds and dales, pint-sized artisan food and drink businesses, food-focused tours and a monthly food market. But there are other charms to the town, including some lovely Georgian architecture and independent shops – like York, Malton has a crooked Shambles, now crammed with vintage shops, where butchers would have once slaughtered the lambs brought in for the town's sheep markets.

The town also has connections to Charles Dickens, who regularly visited a friend here and wrote A Christmas Carol here on one of his trips.
