A perfect bolthole for those traipsing Portobello Rd and named after the bon vivant founder of the AA (Automobile Association, not Alcoholics Anonymous), the Earl is peaceful during the day, with both old biddies and young hipsters inhabiting the reintroduced snugs. There are Samuel Smith’s ales, a fantastic backroom with sofas, banquettes, open fires, a magnificent beer garden and cheery staff.
