With an understated-cool design ethos and some lovely floor tiling, things are muted, dapper and more than a tad minimalist at the 'budget boutique' 40-room Rockwell. Spruce and stylish, all rooms have shower, the mezzanine suites are peaches and the three rooms giving on to the walled garden (LG1, 2 and 3) are particularly fine.
Rooms facing Cromwell Rd are triple-glazed to stifle the roar.
Individually designed with a contemporary style, each air-conditioned room features a floor-to-ceiling Victorian window, a flat-screen TV with Sky sports channels, bespoke oak furniture, and a mini bar. The en-suite bathrooms have bathrobes and White Company toiletries.
With French windows overlooking the landscaped garden, the intimate Rockwell Dining Room offers a modern take on traditional British dishes. An extensive wine list is also available. During the warmer months, guests can dine in the south-facing walled garden which features oversized plant pots.
Many public areas of the building retain original features, including wrought-iron banisters and Victorian mosaic flooring. Ideal for exploring London, the luxurious Rockwell is a 10-minute walk from Cromwell Road's popular museums, such as the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. Harrods department store is a 15-minute walk away. There is a bus stop outside the property, being serviced by the 74 bus.
