Loud and reeking of adrenaline, Firepower is an explosive display of artillery's evolution. The History Gallery traces artillery’s development from catapults to nuclear warheads, while the multimedia, smoke-filled Field of Fire immerses you in the experience of artillery gunners from WWI to Bosnia in a four-screen,15-minute extravaganza. There’s a Gunnery Hall packed with weapons and vehicles, while the recently reopened Cold War Gallery (guided tour only) walks you past the museum's largest materiel dating from 1945 to the present.

Kids will love the Camo Zone, where they can try their hand on the firing range (£1.50).
