A £1.2 million revamp has lovingly reimagined this sea-view hostel inside a heritage mill, which lies hidden in the folds of a bay a mile south of Robin Hood's Bay like a ship's stowaway. The main building is a cosy warren of rooms above a cool cafe with a log-burner and outside decking; up on the hill there's a newer block – the Crow's Nest.
The hostel isn't accessible by car or public transport; park at the top of the hill and walk the 10 minutes down to the beach, or you can walk from Robin Hood's Bay when the tide is out.
Situated alongside the coast in North York Moors National Park, YHA Boggle Hole is next to a bay that was once an infamous smuggler’s cove. The property is set over 2 buildings, including an old mill and there are picnic areas and a courtyard. Guests can search for fossils along the beach, and have fun exploring the rock pools for aquatic life. The charming fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay is just 10 minutes’ drive away. YHA Boggle Hole has a peaceful garden and a lounge for guests to relax in. Free private parking is possible on site, and Wi-Fi is also available. Some rooms are set in the Crow's Nest, which is on the hillside and offers great valley views. The historic Whitby Bay is just 20 minutes away by car. Guests can enjoy world-famous fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens in Scarborough, 30 minutes’ drive away. The majority of rooms contain bunk beds.
All guests must show a valid photo ID upon check-in. Driver’s license, passport, student ID or similarly recognised national identity cards are accepted. Please note that towels are not included in the room rate. Guests can hire them at the property or bring their own. Group bookings: All bookings for 17 people or more cannot be accepted by YHA. Please note this property does not charge an additional temporary membership fee. Discounts are not available for members of YHA (England and Wales) or IYHF as part of this booking. Please note the private car park is located a 15-minute walk from the property. Please do not drive down to the hostel as the road is reserved at all times for coastguard and emergency service access. You can contact the hostel using the details found on your booking confirmation for more information. Please note that some rooms in the Crow's Nest are set up a steep flight of stairs. Please inform the property in advance if you are travelling with children under 7 years old. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation.
