Tour description provided by Viator

See the city of dreaming spires both from the beautiful views of the river at a leisurely pace with a relaxing river trip in the comfort of your private group. See Oxford skyline plus Christchurch & Christchurch meadows. Start with a guided walking tour (not private group)- select either to join our 1pm city & university walk tour or the 2.30 Harry Potter film sites walk tour. You can then select either to have a chauffeured excursion on a punt or row boat (30 minutes) or you can instead take the boat out yourself to row or punt for 1 hour. Your guide on walk tour will walk you to Magdalen boathouse & tell you about Oxbridge's rowing traditions & the origins of the story of Alice in Wonderland, which resulted from just such an outing on the river on July 4th 1862. Option also exists to request boat trip to take place before the walking tour- upon request, when you book.
See the city of dreaming spires both from the beautiful views of the river at a leisurely pace with a relaxing river trip in the comfort of your private group. See Oxford skyline plus Christchurch & Christchurch meadows. Firstly, select either to join our 1pm city & university walk tour or the 2.30 Harry Potter film sites walk tour (not private group but average 5 persons only outside high season). Your guide will then walk you to the boats at Magdalen bridge, where you can select either to have a chauffeured excursion on a punt or row boat (30 minutes) or you can instead take the boat out yourself to row or punt for 1 hour. Notice: each boat takes 3-5 customers. Please be aware that on busiest days in high season, there will be queues to get your boat ready but we will always call boathouse to reserve your boat, to try to reduce queuing time. Please note that the river is about average 6 feet (2m) deep, so if you can't swim, make this fact known when you book & to the guide & to the boathouse staff, when preparing the boat. Children will always be offered a lifebelt. The default schedule is for the river trip to be scheduled at the end of the walking tour. However, if your schedule requires you to instead take the river trip before the walk tour, then please make this fact known, when you book and state what time you can start. The boat house is located 15 minutes walk away from our meeting point and queues to get boat prepared will average 15 minutes (possibly longer on busy days), so please plan your schedule with time to spare! The guided walking tour options (lasting 90 minutes+) are as follows: 1pm City & University tour visits inside college/s (on any university graduation dates, we cannot guarantee entry into a college) 2.30pm Harry Potter film sites tour (visits inside Divinity school + New college, worth up to £6 per person in entry fees included in ticket price)

What’s included

  • Guided walking tour plus all costs relating to either 1 hour boat hire or 30 minutes chauffeured boat excursion. You have option of choosing either a punting boat or rowing boat. Any entry fees (worth up to £6 per person) on the walking tours are included in ticket too.

What’s not included

  • If you opt to request the 1 hour boat hire to handle the boat yourself, please note that if you don't return the boat within the one hour period, the boathouse may use its discretion to charge you a late return penalty fee. This is your responsibility therefore to ensure that you proactively keep an eye on how much time you have left and ensure that you can return the boat along the river in time before your hire period ends. No food or drink is included on this tour but the boathouse do offer you opportunity to pay for a picnic hamper & likewise, you may opt to bring your own food & drink onto the boat. If you opt to choose 1 hour boat hire, you are responsible for safe & sensible drinking of any alcohol and responsible handling of the boat, to ensure that you do not damage the boat or other boats & do not lose the oars etc. We cannot be responsible for any penalties which the boathouse (a third party) might see fit to charge you, if you should cause them damages. In case of bad weather: unfortunately, we don't permit cancellations but if you give us at least 24 hours notice, then we will accept requests to reschedule the date. If weather forecast suggests heavy rain & if you cannot reschedule to another date, we will alternatively let you book onto any alternative tour activity which is also running, such as to join a tour inside Christchurch.
