Hello I’m hoping to start my Central America trip in Guetamala and travel through el Salvador, Honduras and fly home from Nicaragua in total 5.5 months. All with my 2 year old son. Hoping to woof and stay on organic farms and home stays. How much should I aim to budget for. I have traveled all for 3 years South America and south east Asia for 2 years alone. Well traveled and so far only a short trip as a new single mom to the Dominican. How safe is it and how friendly are Central Americans…

Been a while but love following your adventures in El Salvador!! Been trying to get back down there for years now and have been looking for flights for this month or next. Have a few friends who want to do a quick little surf trip down there. You recommend a cheap nice place to stay? I think I stayed at Papayas right in El Tunco on the beach...but it has been years and I think they remodeled. Just trying to put together a surf package for my friends to make it cheap enough for a quick trip…

End April I'll spend 2 nights in S Salvador. Planning to visit volcan Santa Ana, and next day Suchitoto, then go to El Tunco for a week of surfing.
My questions:
-What's the best way/correct taxi fare from SAL to SS centro?
-Best places to danse salsa in SS?
-Can I let my hotel (Villa Angel) organize the excursion to volcan Santa Ana, or is it better to book with an operator?
-What's the best way/cost to get to Suchitoto from SS for a quick visit on Sunday afternoon (after the Santa Ana excursion) or…

Dear all,
Looking for some advice on a preliminary trip plan to Central America for November of this year. Primary interests are culture, hiking and nature. Intrigued by food and markets. Not looking to party or into beaches.
We have a total of 2 weeks and are thinking of the following –

Day 1 – fly from US to San Salvador. Early arrival, transfer to Juayua early afternoon
Day 2 (Sunday) – Juayua Food Festival, visit nearby waterfall; overnight Juayua
Day 3 – visit Ruta de Flores towns…

Hello, I am traveling to El Salvador in a few days and I am wondering any feedback on traveling as two solo females in the country. I will be arriving to the airport at 2am and my friend arrives that same morning at 8am (has anyone had this problem and has either slept at the airport or/and recommend a hostel nearby?)

Looking for any recommendations for our week trip. We have heard about hiking Santa Ana and going to Playa El Zonte. Are these good recommendations and are there any other must…

Hello! I’m on a trip through Central America and I’m looking for the best (safest) way to get from San Salvador to my next destination: Utila in Honduras. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Is anyone aware of direct shuttles? Which bus companies are the most reliable? How is the situation on the road at the moment? Is it fine to change busses in San Pedro as a solo female backpacker? Thanks in advance for any input on my questions!

Hi!
I'll be in San Miguel in a couple of days and I need to get to Esteli, Nicaragua after that. I'm hoping there is a direct shuttle/bus that will go straight there? I'm short on time so want to avoid an overnight in Leon. Any advice will be much appreciated!

I overthink this stuff all the time so I figured I'd just ask those who have already been. I'm counting on my fellow LP backpackers to help me out. ;) Some simple questions to help my packing:

1) Do I need to bring sheets (dorms & simple hotels)? My travel sheet used to be one of my most cherished travel items, now it seems it's no longer needed anywhere I travel. I am still assuming I need to bring a towel.
2) Modest dress for women (not the beach areas, more like typical tourist areas &amp…

I'm currently in Santa Ana, El Salvador and am going diving in Utila in a few days. Is there a way to get into Honduras through the El Poy border by bus from here? Most people I talk to mention going through Guatemala to Copan ruins, but it seems indirect when looking at the map. I would rather only deal with one border crossing if possible and would prefer not to have to head back to San Salvador.

Travel question

I visited el salvador from 5th november to 10th november this year. I would like to visit again after 6 or 7 months. I don't need a visa. I am lithuanian citizen. Is it possible to visit el salvador again after such time? I know about 90 days period which started on 5th november. Do i have to wait one year? Or i can visit el salvador whenever i want in summer?
