Day 1 Cairo There are no activities planned until an evening welcome meeting. Additional Notes: If this is your first visit to Cairo, we highly recommend that you book an airport transfer (please refer to the joining instructions section of tour dossier for more information). Day 2 Cairo/Aswān (1B, 1D) Head straight to the pyramids and soak in the history of these majestic structures. Later, visit the Egyptian Museum to see more ancient artifacts. In the evening, board an overnight train to Aswan. Included Activities: Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx Tour Egyptian Museum Visit Transport: Overnight train (beds) (12.00 hour(s))
Day 3 Aswān (1B, 1D) Enjoy some free time in the morning to browse the souk or walk along the Nile. Later, board a felucca (local boat) to reach Elephantine Island and visit a Nubian village. Walk around the small community, then enjoy a traditional dinner at a local home. Included Activities: Felucca Sail to Nubian Village with Traditional Meal
Day 4 Aswān (1B) One of the most fascinating sights in the area is the Temple of Abu Simbel. Later, opt for a half-day tour of the Unfinished Obelisk, High Dam, and Philae Temple. Visit the modern Nubian Museum to learn more about Aswan's local people.
Day 5 Aswān/Kom Ombo (1B, 1L, 1D) Board the felucca and spend the rest of the day out on the river and a night under the stars. Included Activities: Felucca Overnight Sailing Excursion
Day 6 Kom Ombo/Luxor (1B) Enjoy a guided visit Kom Ombo Temple before driving to Luxor. En route, visit the Temple of Karnak. Included Activities: Kom Ombo Temple Visit Karnak Temple Visit Transport: Stop en route to visit the Karnak Temple. Private Vehicle (4.00 hour(s))
Day 7 Luxor (1B, 1L) Cross to the West Bank and travel by donkey. Visit the massive 18m (59 ft)-high Colossi of Memnon, which is all that remains of an ancient temple. Descend down the narrow corridors and check out the tombs of the pharaohs at the Valley of the Kings. The Funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut literally seems to rise out of the surrounding limestone outcrops. Enjoy free time to explore Luxor; the Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple are both well worth a visit. Learn about the ancient art of embalming at world's only Mummification Museum and the small, but beautifully presented, Luxor Museum. Day 8 Luxor/Cairo (1B, 1D) Enjoy a free day in Luxor to explore more sites of this historical town. Later, catch an overnight train to Cairo. Transport: Overnight train (beds) (9.50 hour(s))
Day 9 Cairo/Alexandria (1B) Enjoy a piece of Europe with its trams, cafés, and an amazing sense of history. Transport: Private Vehicle (4.00 hour(s))
Day 10 Alexandria (1B) Explore the catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, the largest Roman burial site in Egypt, the National Museum, Pompey's Pillar, and Fort Qaitbey. In the afternoon, use some free time to visit the sights of Kom el Dikka, the only Roman theatre of its kind in Egypt, and the Montazah Summer Palace, known for its peaceful gardens. Opt to wander the seaside corniche or stop to enjoy a coffee at one of the many European style cafés. Included Activities: Alexandria Guided Tour
Day 11 Alexandria/Sīwah (1B) Journey to the hidden Oasis of Siwa. Upon arrival, visit the Al Alamein World War cemeteries. Transport: Private Vehicle (8.00 hour(s))
Day 12 Sīwah (1B) Explore the vast, maze-like ruins of the mud brick fort that overlooks Siwa old town. Take a short bike tour to the fascinating Mountain of the Dead and the mysterious 6th century BC Temple of the Oracle. Opt to take a dip in Cleopatra's bath. In the afternoon, choose to enjoy the hot springs and dunes or take a trip by donkey cart out to a small village for the perfect desert sunset. Day 13 Sīwah (1B, 1L) Get deeper into the desert, taking time to explore sand dunes and lakes. The possibility of having to push our jeeps out of sand bogs just adds to the adventure. Transport: 4x4
