Flights & getting there
Sinai’s international air hub is at Sharm El Sheikh, which because of the Metrojet 9268 air disaster in 2015, only receives a handful of direct international flights along with regular domestic flights from Cairo. To the north, Taba international airport is currently not operational. For overland travel, there are regular buses connecting Cairo with the major towns on the Sinai. Foreigners cannot travel on the Suez–Nakhl–Taba highway, which cuts through the middle of the peninsula. Instead, they must take the southern coastal road route from Suez.
