During this adventure, you'll see the unique culture of the indigenous Andean communities while hiking through amazing landscapes inside of the Toachi Canyon and the Quilotoa Cráter. You'll find yourself surrounded by panoramic views of The Avenue of the Volcanoes and the mighty snow covered peaks of Cayambe, Pinchincha, and Chimborazo. During the trek, traverseAndean landscapes, witnessing the local people along the way. Start and finish your trek at an historical old hacienda and visit the various production areas of the hacienda, from their modern crops of flowers for export to traditional milking cows and vegetable crops.
DAY 1: TRANSFER INTransfer from the airport to Inraki lodge.DAY 2: QUITO-INSILIVIDrive to the Guingopana Pass and experience uninhibited views of the surrounding volcanoes and the Toachi canyon. Hike around 3 hours down to the village of Isinlivi. Here you'll have time to walk around in a picturesque small village. Lodging will be at Llullu Llama lodge. DAY 3: TREK INSILIVI TO CHUGCHILANToday, you'll have the opportunity to experience the lives of the local people and traverse Andean landscapes of great beauty. It is a comfortable trek going up-and-down, walking and crossing hamlets and cultivated valleys along Tocahi River. Descend to the canyon again and from here you'll climb uphill about 2 miles until you reach Chugchilan town. This small town has both mestizo and indigenous population and is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. Lodging will be at Black Sheep Inn. Hiking time: 4-5 hoursMeals: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDAY 4: TREK CHUGCHILAN TO QUILOTOAStart our hike up to the Quilotoa loop. We'll descen to the Toachi River and follow this up stream. You'll slowly climb up the canyon, crossing the Rio Sigui Canyon to arrive to Guayama town where there is a chance to have a short siesta. Continue hiking up through Andean crops and local houses, after this exertion you will find your reward as we reach the loop of the lake. Once you are here, you'll have a chance to take pictures of this volcanic crater filled by a beautiful emerald lake. Lodging will at Shalala community lodge.Hiking time: 5-6 hoursMeals: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDAY 5: TREK QUILOTOA TO TIGUA VALLEYToday prepare yourselves for a 5-6 hour hike to Tigua Valley. First you will walk by the crater edge with impressive views of the lagoon inside, until you descend into the canyon again. Passing through the fields of small private farms, we will end our trek at the local hacienda at Tigua where lunch will be served. Finally you will be picked up by your transportation to go to the Wyndham airport hotel.
