Tour description provided by Viator

Enjoy a unique, exclusive, safe and non touristy biking tour in Quito!! Go downhill way for about two hours, from 13,000 feet down to 10,000 feet above sea level!! Discover unforgettable landscapes riding your bike, and also watch very interesting creatures while you are passing winding roads!
Your certified guide will pick you up from your hotel at 07h30, to transport you directly to Pintag, which is located 50 kilometers from Quito. We start the ascent to the Antisana Ecological Reserve, and at 3.810 meters above sea level, we will have good opportunities to find interesting wildlife such as: eagles, carunculated caracaras, white tail deer, puma, and of course, the majestic Andean condors, considered the largest flying birds in the world, and one of the rarest species that has possibly survived since the era of the mega beasts (10.000 years approx.). We will do an acclimatization hike for about 20 minutes, until the Mica Lagoon (4.050 m), which is the result of the end of the last ice age, to get a better view of the volcano and water birds like Andean gulls, Andean lapwings, coots, ducks, and black-faces ibis, which only live in Chile and Antisana Volcano in Ecuador! We take our mountain bikes and start the tour along a comfortable and lonely asphalt road, located at 4.100 meters above sea level! We will make some stops along the 19 Km route to delight ourselves with the wildlife sights of the region. Remember that 75% of the journey offers plenty of comfort, it is a downhill route, and practically we use only the brakes to control our speed! The 25% is a combination of plains with uphill ways. We finish our great adventure at a local restaurant where we eat a typical lunch and we could see more condors from the viewpoint of the restaurant. You will be back in your hotel at 16h00, after having had this unique life experience!!
