In 2018, the indigenous Chachi community of San Salvador, set in the idyllic Reserva Mache Chindul, one hour by taxi from Mompiche, began to offer a program of community tourism including hiking in primary forest, dance programs, canoeing, cacao plantation tours, and basic sleeping arrangements. The Chachis are part of the National Federation of Coastal Indigenous.

Day trips from Mompiche can be arranged with the community.
