Cotopaxi National Park was created in 1975 as a protected area for the volcanoes and lakes within it. You will be fascinated by the most extraordinary nature in the second most visited national park in Ecuador. An impressive variety of animals live within the 33.300-hectare park such as: condors, pumas, spectacled bears, andean foxes, carunculated caracaras (an endemic specie of the region), llamas, frogs, paramo hummingbirds and many others. This park also has an important collection of lakes and mountain peaks. One the most outstanding of these is Limpiopungo Lake, which reflects in its waters the majestic Rumiñahui, 4.757 meters above sea level.
