Rancho Baiguate is recommended for safety and reliability. Its main clientele are Dominican groups from the capital and foreign guests from the all-inclusive resorts near Puerto Plata, but independent travelers can join any of the trips, usually by calling a day or two ahead (except for Pico Duarte trips, which should be arranged weeks in advance).

Activities (prices include breakfast and lunch) range from rafting (US$50) to canyoning at Salto de Baiguate (US$50 including all gear) to mountain biking (US$25 to US$40); there are also waterfall tours (from US$9 without lunch). Pico Duarte trips range in price depending on number of people and side trips; a three-day trip for four people with no side trips costs US$365 per person.
