Czarens Hus

Danish in Nykøbing F

Decked with engraved portraiture, historic fittings and fireplaces, this superb old house is supposedly where Russian tsar Peter the Great dined in 1716 and is probably Denmark's longest-running restaurant. Dinner menus change seasonally but you might find scallops with grilled asparagus followed by gooseberry halibut on grilled pak choi and a dessert of baked rhubarb.

Traditional Danish lunches are fair value. Dinners offer four or five tempting choices of starter and main.
